Early Childhood Support

WHAT IS EARLY CHILDHOOD EARLY INTERVENTION (ECEI)?

The Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) approach was introduced by the NDIA in 2016 to support children aged 0-6 years who have a developmental delay or disability and their families and/or carers. The program supports families to help children develop the skills they need to take part in daily activities and achieve the best possible outcomes throughout their life.

There are currently 8,200 children aged 0-6 years receiving support through the NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) approach in New South Wales.

MyCare Keeper’s early childhood supports are based on best practice, and family-centred interventions, with a focus on providing quality evidence and research informed advice and information to the families and children with developmental delay or disabilities, regardless of their diagnosis.

With our early childhood support service, we strive to optimise learning, development, and social participation, so that your child thrives in the same environment as their peers.

How does it work?
In general there is a five step process to get ECEI to work for you:

1. Contact an Early Childhood Partner when you have any concerns about your child development and possible learning challenges.

You will need these concerns identified by a practitioner prior to making contact with an Early Childhood Partner. Once their condition is diagnosed, then the first step is to contact an Early Childhood Partner and explain your needs.

Early Childhood Partners are organisations appointed by the NDIA to assist families understand the potential role of the NDIS and to guide them to other appropriate supports. To find an Early Childhood Partner in your local area, use the NDIS search tool located on their website

2. Obtain information from your Early Childhood Partner

As all children are different, your Early Childhood Partner will help identify their individual requirements. They will tailor your child’s supports to suit their unique needs and circumstances and will provide you with helpful information.

3. Working out your child’s support requirements

An Early Childhood Partner will be able to connect you with the support centres that can provide you with the tools and supports that your child requires. This may include community health centres, educational setting and playgroup. They will find resources available in your area, and most often start everything on a short-term basis and provide analysis as to if the support is appropriate.

4. Support and referral services

Your Early Childhood Partner can provide you with the information you need and support your child in accessing suitable service within your community. After your child has access to the NDIS, your Early Childhood Partner will prepare planning to support your child to develop the skills that lead to their goals in life.

5. Monitoring your child progress

Your Early Childhood Partner will regularly review your child’s progress toward their goals and evaluate if more support is needed. When more support is identified it will take steps to ensure the goals are being met.

How we can help

Our system has been designed to specifically assist with younger children. We offer programs that are suitable in helping them get what they need to achieve their goals, be it getting ready for school, therapeutic supports, mobility concerns, or help with general life skills.

We focus on integrating supports to meet your child’s needs across various settings, including your home, their preschools, playgroups, and their early years of school.

We will work closely with you when planning interventions, setting goals, and developing strategies for your child, so they can be independent and participate fully in their daily life and community, and achieve the best outcomes.

We focus on your child’s strengths, abilities, and potential to empower them to reach their goals and milestones. We ensure that all our supports are individualised, responsive, and culturally inclusive.
